TOP   [ The Novelty 6 Band ]
Is this one great band, or what. The band size actually can vary from 5 to 8 great musicians playing Jazz, Pop, Western and lots of Novelty numbers from the 1920s to the 1950s. This group is the successor to the older Sunshine Skiffle Band. Here's what one critic had to say about them:
"You'll note an off-the-wall irreverence in this music, a zany humor that has a name. It is called skiffle music . . . the word has been used for a century for the good humored music played by those too poor to buy instruments and who have instead used washboards, jugs, tub basses, and other "found" instruments along with any horns, reeds, or strings that were handy. The Sunshine Skiffle Band works no downtown street corners. . . . But they've heard the old recordings and assimilated the style. They have fewer hangovers and do not see as many snakes, but the craziness is here and the humor. They are the only band now making these zany sounds and I thank them for it." --Joe Wilson

The Novelty 6 Band is THE band to liven up folk or jazz festivals, private parties, weddings, mitzvahs of various kinds (there are only two), funerals, wakes, etc. And, remember they tour the entire D.C. metroplex, including Maryland; Virginia; Pennsylvania, D.C., and beyond.

One review called our program "patriotism at its peak". In addition to performing music from the World War II era, the band dresses in WWII uniforms.

We also perform a number of other shows from our more than 400 song library. This includes;

Salute to Sinatra - The songs old blue eyes made famous
Tribute to Glenn Miller - From his early hits to his Army band
Theme songs from the Big Bands - The songs that made them famous
Tribute to the "Girl Singers" - Songs from Ella, Judy, Helen and more

The Silver Starliters are the newest addition to the band. This 4 piece singing group brings back the sound of the famous singing groups of the 40's that performed with bands such as Tommy Dorsey or Glenn Miller.
