[ Original Dixieland Jazz Band ]
Jimmy LaRocca, son of Nicholas LaRocca - founder of the world famous Original Dixieland Jazz Band, has after years of experience playing in many of the famous New Orleans Jazz clubs, including the Famous Door, with such legendary New Orleans musicians as Santo Peccora and others, finally decided to recreate the Original Dixieland Jazz Band as only he could. Today, eighty years after the very first jazz recording, the unique sound of Nick LaRocca's "Original Dixieland Jazz Band" has come alive once again. With Nick's eldest son Jimmy playing the trumpet and overseeing the band, making certain that the sound of the new ODJB truly honors its roots, -the tradition lives on, and so does the excitement. The sound of that first extraordinary group is not only preserved, but progresses with artistry and taste. Formed in the spring of 1998, this wonderful band carries on the spirit of the original big bands and the great band leaders such as Miller, Goodman, the Dorseys, Basie, Ellington and so forth, playing Swing and big band music -- no Top-40, no Motown. The lead female vocalist has a voice made for big band music, and can swing with the hepcats and torch the ballads. She has been contracted for several radio jingles as a result of her performances on Blue Moon's four CDs and at live events. The band has sold CDs/cassettes (MP3s available on site) in all 50 states and 10 international regions, and has performed in MD, DC, VA, PA, WVA, DE, and NY City as well as various National Public Radio specials, live television, and over 60 radio stations nationwide. Among the band's favorite and most memorable venues is the Valencia Ballroom in York, PA, where they were privileged to perform on the same stage as Harry James, Artie Shaw, and Glenn Miller, among many others. In fact, it was the very stage where, on New Year's Eve 1937, Glenn Miller announced to his band that he was dissolving the Orchestra (of course we know that he re-formed the band months later after finding that great 'Miller sound'). Blue Moon Big Band is available for wedding receptions, private and corporate events, swing dances, concerts -- you name it!

[ Debbie Lang and Majestic Jazz ]
New York Born Jazz Singer/Leader, Debbie Lang's style is that of a well simmered stew, where all the flavors mix together making one unique sound, rich, sultry, pleasing to the ear, and with much feeling. Classically trained, -a protoge of Dr.Peter J. Wilhously of Carnegie Hall, Debbie studied theory, piano and voice from the age of 9. At age 15, she began singing at clubs and society resturants in Manhattan, and finally joined Lester Lanin's Band at age 17. It was there that Arranger Joe Cribari set up an audition for the Glenn Miller Orchestra, at Webster Hall, under the Direction of Ray McKinley. She had to wait until July of 1958 (until she was 18 yrs. old) to join the Glenn Miller Orchestra. Touring with the GM Orchestra enabled Debbie to sit-in with Jack Teagarden, as well as some of the older Southern Black Jazz musicians after her concerts. All this, and a sad, abusive period of her life, has simmered her style to be what it is today...Deep, sultry, souful and from the heart." You've gotta live the Blues to Sing'em". She has chosen her musicians to compliment her style, and each in their unique way is humble, gifted, creative and soulful. Her arranger/Guitarist, Lou Voulpe, is from the same era and has worked with Herbie Hancock, The Supremes ,and may other "Greats". After performing for the Inaugural Ball of President John F. Kennedy, Debbie returned to New York. There she also did Church music with The Eddie Bonnemere Jazz Chorus at Lincoln Center, Jazz Vespers at St. Peters Luthern Church with Al Hibler, Members of the Duke Ellington Orchestra, and performed at St. John the Devine Church. Having worked with Roy Eldridge, Thad Jones, Mel Louis and a host of other greats, Debbie Lang says she is 'Majestically' inspired and thankful for the gift she has been given. Her smile tells it all. Standards, Blues, Originals, Swing, Bossa's, make up the repertoire of the group...easy, inspired, creative upbeat, blue-sy, and groovin'. That's what makes Debbie Lang & Majestic Jazz good listening.

[ The David Levin Swing Band with Regina Otto ]
Founded in 1987 as an instrumental light jazz-swing band, The David Levin Swing Band added vocalist Regina Otto in 1995. Her voice is reminiscent of a young Doris Day and Gogi Grant, with shades of Ella Fitzgerald and Eydie Gorme. Many of the area's top sidemen have been part of the Band including many "A" players. One of the top small swing bands in the state, the Band has appeared at The San Francisco Black & White Ball and at events at The Pacific-Union Club and Burlingame Country Club and has performed at many wedding receptions. The Trio version was the steady band at The Top Of The Mark in 1992. The new DLSB CD features three "A" players--jazz great Vince Lateano on drums, Benny Goodman-style clarinetist, Jim Rothermel and Harry James-style trumpeter, Tom Leps (for the 6-piece). The Band's unique song list consists of "up swing" numbers including some quicksteps like Cole Porter's "Just One Of Those Things" and I. Berlin's "Let's Face The Music And Dance" to medium swing songs like "You Make Me Feel So Young" to film noir rhumbas like "Heartbreak" to 40s slow fox hits like "Stardust" and "I Had The Craziest Dream". The David Levin Swing Band contracts an experienced sound company for all its performances. Our sound system includes the high profile Bag End floor monitors.
