Playing a dominant role in Southern California's current swing revival, Elliott's band is a favorite among young dancers who jitterbug and Lindy Hop with the same skill and abandon as the kids of fifty years ago. The band has appeared before large crowds at the Avalon Casino Ballroom on Catalina Island, the Indian Wells Jazz Festival, Ambassador Auditorium in Pasadena, the Greek Theater with singer Michael Feinstein, and the Starlight Bowl in Burbank. The band's first CD release, SWING FEVER, has received enthusiastic support at jazz radio stations around the country, and has been featured on several nationally syndicated big band radio programs.

The Happy swinging sounds of this fine band is captivating audiences wherever they appear. The "Music Designed for Dancing" is just perfect - from smart society two beat to sweet nostalgic ballads, to real Big Band Swing, Latins of all types, Polkas, Cross-over, or whatever you desire. The Bands normal configuration uses twelve instrumentalist - five saxophones, three trumpets, one trombone, piano, bass and drums , Plus a lovely vocalist. But, an interesting and somewhat unique feature of the band is that they can provide a single, duo, trio, quartet or any combination needed. The talented Jules Levan, who was conductor at the Music Hall on the Steel Pier in Atlantic City , N.J., leads the small groups. He was also the contractor for the Miss America Pagent Orchestra and also played piano. Jules was Musical Director for Paul Anka and played for Judy Garland, The Lennon Sisters, The Andrew Sisters and many more performers. Regardless of the size of the group, with Jules Levan at the piano, the groups are as great as the Big Band.

This orchestra has been active for over 40 years, and Bill Evans still plays and fronts the band. For ten years, the Band was house band at the Historic Coliseum Ballroom in St. Petersburg. The J. E. B. B. is the most powerful and explosive big band in Europe, - no doubt about that. Many of the band members are working as music professors or studio musicians. The J.E.B.B. has a 2-hour program, which consists of the music that Buddy Rich and his orchestra played. The band plays all original music of the Buddy Rich Big Band from 1966 up to 1987 and has been going on since 1997.
The repertoire includes of course the famous, 'West Side Story Medley' and 'Channel One Suite Medley' as the highlights of the evening. The J. E. B. B. has appeared at the Stockholm Jazz Festival, as well as the Finland Imatra Big Band Festival.

One of the longest serving Big Bands with more than 25 years as resident on a weekly (every Wednesday evening) basis at the Fiveways Hotel, Hazel Grove, just outside Stockport, is the Double B Jazz Orchestra. The fabulous Les Elgart Orchestra represents one of the few remaining Big Bands from the forties. The orchestra has and continues to entertain around the world. They have performed at such prestigious locations including the Cocoanut Grove, the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, the hotels Astor, Roosevelt, New Yorker and Waldorf Astoria in New York City. The orchestra has also performed in Hawaii, Disneyland, London, Las Vegas, Rio, Guatemala LA, Chicago and most of the colleges and universities in the United States. Les also worked on all the Norwegian Cruise Lines, Mississippi Delta Queen . In 1986 Les was inducted into the Big Band Hall of Fame.

Les wrote the theme for the popular American Bandstand television show and was the Award winner of the Variety, Billboard, and Cashbox polls as the number one Dance Band in the United States.

Despite the passing of Les Elgart in 1995, the organization and management are dedicated to projecting the bands unique dancing style into the future.

The orchestra is now under the direction of former band member Russ Dorsey. Russ has recaptured the great sound and style that critics have called, the worlds greatest foxtrot orchestra.

You can see and hear the World Famous Les Elgart Orchestra on the TLC channel on the television program The Wedding Story in the early part of 2004.

The orchestra recorded over 100 albums and they are still available on Sony/Colombia records.

The band has a line-up of Perrier Jazz Award Winners with a repertoire of original compositions, Cuban salsa, cha-cha-cha and Afro-Cuban jazz. Kico was born in Camaguey, Cuba and studied music at the National School of Art. He worked with Bobby Carcasses, Beatriz Marquez, Lagrimas Negras and Orquesta LA 440. In 1913 the Edmonton Journal Newspaper formed the EDMONTON JOURNAL NEWSBOYS BAND. The band developed into such a proficient group of musicians that in 1916 they were asked to accompany the Shriners, to their convention in Buffalo, New York.

In 1926, the Band was reorganized as the EDMONTON NEWSBOYS BAND. Acclaimed as one of the finest bands in the world, and Canada's largest, the band concerts sadly came to an end with the Stock Markets collapse in 1929, and the start of the depression years.

In 1936, the EDMONTON SCHOOLBOYS BAND got its start. The Band's showing in the 1936 Edmonton Exhibition Parade so impressed officials of the Edmonton Public School Board that they decided to take over the trusteeship of the Edmonton Newsboys Band. The Band continued until 1969 when the Edmonton Public School Board decided to place its support within individual schools.

In 1996, the EDMONTON SCHOOLBOY'S ALUMNI BAND was formed as a result of a 60th anniversary reunion that attracted over 400 former members. Today, this Concert Band has a membership of over 50 and performs numerous concerts in and around the city of Edmonton and has made several recordings. The average age of the band members is approximately seventy.

In 2003, members of the ALUMNI BAND started the EDMONTON SWING BAND. This is a Big Band of 16 experienced musicians focusing on Big Band music, primarily from the 30's to the 50's. Most of the players perform also in the ALUMNI BAND. The EDMONTON SWING BAND has had significant success in its short existence playing at several dances and concerts.

Formed in the fall of 2006, "Encore Swing Band", of Inverness, Florida, started as a group of adults who just wanted to get together, blow the dust off their axes, and jam. The membership quickly became noticeable as "the 30 and over gang". Some retired music educators, some current band parents to children in the Citrus High School Band program, one current music educator and some active community orchestra members who all felt the need... the need for SWING !!!

We meet to rehearse once a week and crank up those old favorite big band tunes reminiscent of Glenn Miller, Harry James, Nate King Cole, Frank Sinatra era. Along with some standard danceable favorites. The group adopted the name of ENCORE, going on the idea of this being another go around, in this particular musical venue, for most of us.

Under the direction of Mrs. Charlene "Chaz" Iannaci, Encore began "gigging" in December of 2006. We've been asked many times to appear as the opening act for the Citrus High School ensemble known as The Citrus Swing Band. We've landed a monthly gig at Citrus County Italian Social Club and have been booked for a few community events in the future. We're always looking to gig and get you on the dance floor.
