Subject: Song Books
Dear Mr Pfeffer,
I came across your web site on Big Bands. I need your assistance. My mother (now 73) has been wanting a song book of songs her mother use to sing to her when she was a little girl. She is looking for the lyric to "Melancholy Me", (Ernest M Burnett 1911), "Beautiful Brown Eyes" and "Baby Your Mother", by Burke, Donnelly, and Morse. It would give her great pleasure to sing theses and other songs from that era to her grandchildren. I am trying urgently to find such a book by her Birthday Jan 19. You assistance would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Debbie Eckleberry

Subject : New Big Band Compositions
I have recently composed a big band ballet for the Cleveland/San Jose Ballet consisting of 8 movements. It has been recorded and performed recently (Oct. 18-22) here in Cleveland and will be performed again in Florida in January and at San Jose in April. I am looking to either hook up with a publisher or sell charts directly to anyone interested in performing. The difficulty level is between 4 and 5. I don't have demos on line yet, but the music is very hooky and parallels traditional big band styles. A CD is available on request.
I am new to this area and would appreciate any advice.
Thank you.

Can you imangine how much publicity you would get if you managed the next number one all girl group in the U.S? (Riverside, CA area) These four beautiful 13-14 year olds can see it already. They are 4 vocally blessed hot brunettes who are determined to make it to the top! They are unlike any other band on the pop charts today. They have some genuine talent and it shows! All they need is an agent to get them as far as they want to go with the same amount of integrity as themselves. They can see through all of those so called "bands", just as I am sure you can. If you have an eye for talent, and are looking for some, you have certainly lucked out. Give us a call or E-mail us.

Subject: HELP!!! Space Songs (1959) by Hy Zaret
Hello:
I don't know if anyone at this web site can help me. I am searching for an album of science songs I listened to in my childhood (1960s). It was great! Very educational and I still hum tunes from it, and sing some lyrics. I have not heard the music in 25 years and I have been searching for it for several months now. Would like my niece and nephew to hear it. I FINALLY found the pertinent production information.
The album was produced by MOTIVATION RECORDS/ARGOSY MUSIC CORPORATION
It was part of a series of albums: BALLADS FOR THE AGE OF SCIENCE by HY ZARET and LOU SINGER
The album was SPACE SONGS (1959)
Sung by TOM GLAZER and DOTTIE EVANS
If you have any information about how I might obtain a copy of this 40-year-old album, I would appreciate hearing from you.
Sincerely.

Hi I caught your Big Band pages and thought you might like to know more about Brian Fahey U.K. who you may know wrote the Sign of the Swinging Cymbal - not a high point of his career as a Big Band composer / arranger, but world famous nevertheless.
Over the last four years he has written a collection of new original compositions for Big Band in an easy to read easy to play style. It has been acclaimed by those in the know and all the scores sound fantastic.
These area available very reasonably directly from Brian Fahey on a non profit basis, he has written these pieces in his retirement in order to keep the Big Band scene alive. These scores are beautifully written in his own immaculate hand and are aimed at Youth / Jazz Big Band rehearsal orchestras. If you are interested in knowing more about the collection, it would be a shame to miss out on this unique opportunity from the Master British Big Band arranger of his generation - Ella used to Insist he MD for her when ever she came to England -
please email me - I am his son and he's not on the net yet
Any of the BANDS can write to him directly at:

HE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU, HE HAS LIVED BIG BANDS ALL HIS PROFESSIONAL LIFE AND THIS IS HIS WAY OF PUTTING SOMETHING BACK INTO WHAT HE ADORES.
