It all started with the new "Jazz Age".
The 1920s,.'30s and '40s were exciting times. Towns near the U.S. border could listen to the American radio stations playing the "new" music, and soon wonderful Canadian bands were playing in all the provinces. Even American Jazzmen came north to play in these great bands, Hotels turned their dining rooms into 'dinner and dance' rooms, and many independent ballrooms began enticing dancers too.
