1925     Peter "Chuck" Badie, bass, b. New Orleans, LA, USA. Badie's professional career began when he played at the Dew Drop Inn, with a group called "The Buccaneers", comprised of Earl Anderson, Oliver "Snow" Berry, Joe Tillman and others. From 1950 to 1952, Badie toured with Roy Brown, and after returning to New Orleans, Badie played with Paul Gayten’s band (which included saxophonist Lee Allen, guitarist Bill Jones, drummer Frankie Parker and trumpeter Jack Willis). After Gayten disbanded, Badie joined Dave Bartholomew’s band, which in turn, led to a 2-1/2 year gig with Lionel Hampton’s band. Upon the death of his father, Badie took a hiatus from music, after which time, he resumed his career by joining the American Jazz Quintet (AJO) around 1957, then comprised of Nat Perrilliat, Alvin Batiste, Ellis Marsalis and Ed Blackwell. He also did session work with Allen Toussaint, which produced the hits "Mother-In-Law", "Ooh Poo Poo Pa Doo" and "Something You Got". In 1964, Badie toured and recorded with R&B singer Sam Cooke before returning to New Orleans to perform at Mason’s and other clubs around the city.

Croyden, England, UK) and Vernie Bennett and school friends Kéllé Bryan (aka: Kelle Bryan, b. March 12, 1975, Lewisham, South London, England.) and Louise Nurding (aka: Louise Redknapp (her partner), b. Nov. 4, 1974, Lewisham, England), who both went to the famous Italia Conti Academy stage school. 1995 saw Louise leaving the band amid a controversy over the fact that she was the only White member. Some folks thought that it was to help their popularity with USA fans, but that was denied by the group.

1916     Paul Quinichette, Tenor Sax, b. New York, NY, USA, d. 1983. (some sources say b. May 7 ). Tag: The "Vice Prez". Early on Quinichette played with such men as with Lloyd Sherock, Nat Towles,and Ernie Fields. Then, during 1942-'44 played with Jay McShann's band; 1945-'47 on the West Coast with Johnny Otis; 1948-'49 in New York city with Louis Jordan and performed with Lucky Millinderm, Red Allen, and "Hot Lips" Page; 1952-'53 with Count Basie's reformed band; 1955 with Benny Goodman; also recorded with Billie Holiday, and was on a session with John Coltrane. In the 1950s, Quinichette led his own group on several recordings. In the the late '50s, he left music and worked as an electrical engineer. In the early 1970s, he played with Sammy Price, Brooks Kerr and Buddy Tate before ill health forced him to retire.

In 1959, he played with tenor saxophonist Stan Getz, and the Netherlands singer Rita Reys. He subsequently worked with Albert Mangelsdorff and later worked with Klaus Doldinger and in the orchestra of Kurt Edelhagen. He later formed an excellent group together with the pianist Bora Rokovic and percussionist Tony Inzalaco. In the years up to his death, he was playing some moderately 'Free Jazz' (in a group together with Trumpeter Manfred Schoof and percussionist Cees See).
